MITOS Logic Model

Addressing the Lack of Integration of Mitochondria into traditional medicine and research is central to the MITOS distributed institute. However, the goal is not simply infusing traditional medicine with mitochondrial implications, though that is one goal. Rather, a more holistic goals is to build processes, using AI and computation and other traditional methods to move information, investigations and discoveries in multiple directions in order to build integrated approaches.

  • Stage 1 (below) is building continuity, greater funding, and consensus funding in the mitochondria research, translation and therapy communities.

  • Stage 2 is to map the coordinated mitochondrial knowledge, information and findings into both standard medical practice, single disease organizations and into an organized two-way system with basic and system science using advanced informatics and common standards.

  • Stage 3 is a fully integrated system to put disease and aging research on a strong scientific and practice basis and to do so as a non-proprietary organization.

The M-I-T-O-S process drives the integrated modeling: Mitochondria being well understood in the community, with Informatics (computation, modeling, AI indexing, etc.) relating mitochondria, traditional medicine and basic biology, with Translational methodologies catalogued for easy retrieval, with constant Outreach happening across medicine and society, and with the purposeful development of deep basic science across physics, biology and engineering.
